Dr. Miers worked for many years in the construction industry at various capacities. Starting as a carpenter and progressing to estimator and eventually project manager. He also worked in the asbestos abatement field as estimator and project manager, while acting as a consultant and trainer in industry.

 

Dr. Miers acted as a facilitator for Creative Approaches to Management and facilitator of team workshops for large industrial and manufacturing organizations throughout the Syracuse, New York area.

 

Dr. Miers was as adjunct faculty member while working towards his Masters of Science and his PhD. He then accepted a position with Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island as an Assistant Professor. While at Roger Williams, He was the Ahlborg Internship Coordinator, an endowed position, for the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management and wrote the internship program that is in effect today. During this time Dr. Miers was the faculty advisor for the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) student competition teams. The teams not only won first and second prizes at the regional level, but also won the nationals in the design build category. Dr. Miers served three years as the ASC Region I Director and served on committees. He is also a member of the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) at the Constructor level and a member of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).
