Assistant Professor, Construction Management

Mr. Ron Mau brings over 12 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry to the Construction Management program. He has primarily worked as a geotechnical engineer on a wide range of project types throughout eastern Kansas and western Missouri. Ron holds a B.S and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas. Professor Mau has worked for Terracon, an ENR Top 500 design firm, for twelve years where he held various positions. His responsibilities have included all aspects of geotechnical investigations and construction service projects. Mr. Mau is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Kansas. Ron returned to the University of Kansas on a part-time basis and earned an MBA with a concentration in finance. He is currently completing his Ph.D. work in finance at the University of Kansas, School of Business. Ron has taught and assisted in a variety of courses such as soil mechanics, foundation engineering, environmental pollution and control, corporate finance, capital budgeting, and mergers and acquisitions. Professor Mau will be teaching the construction finance course, construction equipment, and surveying courses at Western. He will also serve as the treasurer for Habitat for Humanity beginning this fall.
